FALLEN

A Peck on my cheek as you leave for work,

When I stay at home,

For the day.

A phone call in the evening

To say you’ll be home early

And lets’ go out somewhere,

Just you and me.

I smile a little to myself,

As I get off the phone

Alarmed, excited I think

I am falling in love with you.

I’ve had a long day at work,

And nothings’ gone right;

I reach home exhausted,

When you smile as you open the door

And suddenly everything’s alright.

Give me a back rub,

Listening to me as I pour my heart out

You tuck me into bed with a whispered goodnight,

And Baby,

I am falling in love with you.

It’s the ill-fated weekend,

Your mothers’ coming!

I’m frantic, anxious

Everything has to be just right.

Your amused smile

Takes my breath away

Your soothing voice

My worries

And as her car pulls up

You hold my hand…

It is then that I think,

Maybe I have fallen in love with you.

A Saturday night

And we’re at an office party

A pretty colleague

Approaches you and asks for a dance

I’m unaware of this,

Till a hand encircles my waist,

And suddenly I am dancing

I see your friend frustrated, upset

In askance I look up into your eyes

And as you hold me tighter in your arms

And softly whisper “always, only with you “

I realize then

Fully and completely,

Just how much I love you.
